my influence map
All the guys in my concept department did our influence map last week. It was self illuminating to say the least. It took me like, three hours or more to piece it all together. I broke the rules and expanded the grid. I kept feeling really bad when I left anyone out. There is method to the madness... Corner stones, chronology, accidental inaccuracy, incept-dates and longevity. I didn't put in allot of my most recent influences... maybe cuz I feel they are influenced by the same masters I am... I don't know. Art is all kinds of insane.
mostly :)

Little Red Riding Hood
Little Red Riding Hood you sure are looking good. Your everything a big bad wolf would want.
Thats something my mom would sing all the time while I was growing up. Which is why I painted this for her.
They look like they could have some fun adventures together ... don't they... hmmm.

Marie Antoinette
Marie Antoinette
I guess she never really said "let them eat cake." She probably didn't listen to The Cure or Joy Division either.

Battle of the Planets or Gatchaman or G-Force
When I was very very young, before I even knew what Star Wars was... (wow, I know, right?) my favorite show was Battle of the Planets! Thus my lifelong love of all things Geeky began.
Battle of the Planets! G-Force, five incredible young people with superpowers! And watching over them from Centre Neptune, 7-Zark-7! Watching, warning against surprise attacks by alien galaxies from beyond space. G-Force! Fearless young orphans, protecting Earth's entire galaxy. Always five, acting as one. Dedicated! Inseparable! Invincible!

Ackward Avengers Group Photo
I'm super excited about the new Avengers movie!!! Who isn't right? I think Cap's new outfit is a little dorky... they should have stuck with the one from the first Captain America movie.

Angel in PARLOR Mashup by matthew s armstrong
The Avalanche Concept department did an exercise where we took a fine art piece, a weird cartoon, and sorta Mary Blair background and mashed them all up. I like how this turned out.
3 color scribbles!!! Brok-Lok, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and Earthbound Kid!!!
Brok-a-Lok!!! So I was doing a sketch trade with the indomitable Joe Olson... and I was like what do you want... and he was all... Monster... or Brockley... or a Carrot! Thus Brok-o-Lot was spawned. I'm still playing with the name can you tell?
Earthbound!!! One of the greatest RPGs evah!!! Instead of healing potions you had aspirin. Instead of sword you had baseball bat. Cuz ya know... it was just a bunch of normal Earth kids and aliens had invaded their back yard! Brilliant!!!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!!!
Heroes in a half shell TURTLE POWER!!!
Not sure which one this is... but my fav was always Leo. So I guess its him. I mean... its Leonardo.
